Afghani Expat Businessman Mirwais Azizi Makes Historic AED 3 Billion Contribution to UAE’s Fathers’ Endowment Campaign. In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Azizi Developments pledges support for a humanitarian medical complex, including a hospital, research center, and medical training facility.

Largest Individual Private Sector Contribution in UAE History

In a landmark moment for philanthropy in the UAE, Afghani expatriate businessman Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, announced a staggering AED 3 billion contribution to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign. The announcement was made in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during the closing ceremony of the 5th Arab Hope Makers initiative in Dubai.

The Fathers’ Endowment campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, coincides with the holy month of Ramadan and aims to establish a sustainable AED 1 billion endowment fund dedicated to providing healthcare for the poor and needy. The campaign also seeks to honor fathers across the UAE by promoting values of compassion, social solidarity, and the importance of charitable endowments.

A Vision for Sustainable Healthcare

Mirwais Azizi’s contribution, the largest individual private sector donation in UAE history, will fund the development of a state-of-the-art humanitarian medical complex. This complex will include a hospital, a research center, and a medical training facility, all built to the highest international standards. The project is set to significantly enhance the UAE’s healthcare sector and provide critical services to underprivileged communities.

His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary General of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), signed the agreement with Mirwais Azizi during the ceremony. Al Gergawi praised Azizi’s generosity, stating that it reflects the UAE’s position as a global humanitarian capital.

Boundless Generosity and Global Impact

His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi emphasized the importance of such contributions in advancing the UAE’s humanitarian goals. “The vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, along with the continuous Ramadan initiatives, fosters a unique global humanitarian ecosystem within the UAE,” he said.

Al Gergawi further highlighted the campaign’s focus on sustainable giving, ensuring long-term support for vital sectors like healthcare and education. “These initiatives empower and improve the lives of millions globally, particularly in accessing essential needs like healthcare,” he added.

A Tribute to Fathers and a Commitment to Giving

Mirwais Azizi expressed his honor in contributing to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, describing it as a “blessed initiative” that aligns with his personal and corporate values. “This campaign aims to provide vital treatment and healthcare to the poor, the needy, and those unable to afford it,” Azizi said.

He also shared a deeply personal motivation behind his contribution. “One of my daughters tragically suffered from an incurable disease, and through this project, we hope to alleviate the suffering of countless others facing similar financial burdens,” Azizi revealed.

Azizi reiterated his company’s commitment to social responsibility and the UAE’s charitable initiatives. “This contribution is a tribute to fathers and a reflection of Azizi Developments’ dedication to supporting the UAE’s humanitarian vision, particularly during Ramadan,” he concluded.

A Legacy of Philanthropy

This is not the first time Azizi Developments has made a significant contribution to charitable causes in the UAE. In March 2024, the company donated AED 600 million to establish an educational endowment complex as part of the Mothers’ Endowment campaign. That initiative, also launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aimed to create a AED 1 billion endowment fund to support global education in honor of mothers.

The Fathers’ Endowment campaign continues this legacy of giving, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to philanthropy and sustainable development. With Mirwais Azizi’s historic contribution, the campaign is poised to make a transformative impact on healthcare access for underprivileged communities, both in the UAE and beyond.

As the UAE continues to lead by example in humanitarian efforts, contributions like Azizi’s underscore the power of collective action and the enduring spirit of generosity that defines the nation.
